Motion Tronic was established in 2003 and has grown exponentially over the years. With over 20 years’ experience in industrial automation, we are known as leaders in the industry with sole agencies for strong European brands. We provide technical support for the whole of Africa, offering sales and technical assistance on all levels.

Meet the MD
Bradley Douglas, Managing Director
Bradley Douglas started Motion Tronic in 2003 after working in the electronic manufacturing industry for nine years. Practising a hands-on approach to the business, Bradley has a natural inclination for developing efficient, innovative solutions to technical problems. This ability is a key reason for Motion Tronic’s success. In November 2006, Baumüller selected Motion Tronic as its sole authorised service partner for Southern Africa. In December 2012, Motion Tronic was awarded sole agency for Microsonic products and in 2022 was awarded the sole agency for Inovance. These selections are testament to Motion Tronic’s superior offering and Bradley’s commitment to excellent supplier and customer relations.

Our Services
Servo Motor & Electronics Repairs
Our advanced repair facility can service servo motors from all brands, backed by a 12-month warranty. Our services encompass back EMF inspections, bearing maintenance, housing machining, and thorough checks, replacement, and digital alignment of encoders.
We perform electronic repairs on servo drives, standard VSDs, PLCs, I/O cards, power supplies, and component-level PCB repairs, including SMD. After a repair, we test the unit to ensure peak performance. We also maintain stock of components for replacement purposes.
Retrofits & Servicing
Outdated, inefficient machines don’t have to be discarded and replaced. A cost-effective alternative is our retrofit service, where we upgrade your existing, potentially obsolete drive system with the latest in drive and PLC technology.
We also provide maintenance for industrial automation systems. Minimising downtime is crucial for your operations, so inquire about our priority service options to expedite the servicing of your industrial setup and ensure minimal disruptions.
Dyno Unit & On-Site Troubleshooting
We can make use of our dyno unit for electrically load testing VSDs. We repair and thoroughly test VSDs and motors. Our tests encompass load, temperature, RPM, phase current, phase voltage, torque, and monitoring of DC bus current and voltage.
We provide 24-hour on-site technical support services with advanced product and application expertise whenever you need assistance. Our skilled technicians can visit your site to assess and troubleshoot your faulty drive system or servo motor promptly.

We were named the sole agents of Southern Africa for Inovance in 2022. Inovance is a worldwide technology company focused on industrial automation and drive technology, deliver cost-effective and innovative automation products.
Microsonic
In 2012 we were awarded the sole agency for Microsonic in Southern Africa. Microsonic is a well-known expert in ultrasonic sensor technology, providing a diverse range of ultrasonic sensors.
